Changes to the VIC Residential Tenancies Act
Originally due to come into effect on 1 July 2020, the start of the Residential Tenancies Amendment Act 2018 was delayed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. While some of the changes have already commenced throughout 2020, the remaining reforms commenced from 29 March 2021
The changes to the law clarify the rights and responsibilities of renters (previously known as tenants) and rental providers (previously known as landlords) – from before a rental agreement is signed until after the agreement ends.
