Enjoy your Autumn Sunday mornings in Melbourne’s west

Easy like a Sunday morning in Melbourne’s west

Whether your ideal weekend morning includes the mandatory Melbourne brunch, a trip to the seaside or an exercise class, this guide has got you covered.

Get active

Here are some fun fitness options to enjoy this weekend in Melbourne’s west:
Nothing quite says fun like a kids’ Bollywood Zumba class at Tarneit Library.
Join local personal trainer Firaol at his youth fitness classes at Tarneit Community Learning Centre on Saturdays this April.
Boys and girls between 5 and 12 can take part in the renowned free Auskick program this April in Wyndham.
Run, walk or jog the 5-kilometre Point Cook Parkrun at Arndell Park Community Centre every Saturday.
Improve your strength, fitness and coordination with a workout using the free outdoor exercise equipment located across Melbourne’s west.
Book online in advance and start your Saturday morning with a round of tennis at one of the community’s free tennis courts.
Prefer to go on a Sunday stroll? There are so many fantastic walking trails out west, including the Werribee River Trail and the Wyndham Bay Trail.

Enjoy the outdoors

There are several outdoor spaces across Wyndham to explore this weekend. First, check out Wyndham Park’s $13 million makeover. Hugging the Werribee River, it’s home to nature walks, bike paths, barbecue facilities and two fantastic playgrounds. Otherwise, step back in time and visit Werribee Park. Tour the heritage-listed Werribee Mansion, have a picnic on the stately grounds or stop and smell the roses at Victoria State Rose Garden.

If you’re feeling brave and want to take a dip in the sea or just enjoy the view from the comfort of the sandy shoreline, head to Werribee South Beach. Another option is to head closer to the city and visit Altona or Williamstown Beach. Finally, if you’re graced with a sunny day this April, why not do something different and follow this self-guided tour of Werribee’s amazing public art?

Out and about in the community

Embrace the local community and check out one of these events this autumn. Wyndham Community Gardens is hosting a free open day, where visitors can see the huge climate-zoned greenhouse and the all-important vegetable garden. You can also do your part and join Beach Patrol 3030 for a community clean-up. Meeting at Wyndham Harbour, there’s a warm cuppa waiting for you at the end of the hour-long clean-up.

Eat, drink and be merry

Nothing quite says Sunday in Melbourne like brunch. Fortunately, there are many cafes serving breakfast all weekend across Wyndham. Jock & Mack is a modern Australian cafe serving breakfast classics with a twist. If you prefer a sweet treat with a cup of Axil Roasters coffee, just wait until you see their pastry display.

Notorious Espresso is a locally-owned cafe with an eclectic brunch menu. Think caramel Biscoff French toast and Golden Gaytime hotcakes. Then there’s The South Corner, tucked away on Werribee’s suburban streets in a former corner shop/milk bar. They offer “a CBD vibe without the hustle and bustle,” which include all-day breakfast. If you like a sweet brunch, just try and resist the Caramilk waffles. Alternatively, if savoury is calling your name, check out the prawn benedict.

Another option is to head to Little Rosebery Cafe to try their mouthwatering black forest hotcakes before going for a stroll along Altona Beach. What adventure will you choose out west this weekend?

In Sanctuary Lakes, the Waterstone Cafe has a beautiful lakeside setting, while the Bean Smuggler on Sneydes Road in Point Cook offers excellent coffee and a Smugglers Breakfast of eggs with your choice of three sides. Located inside Sanctuary Lakes Shopping Centre, the Coffeeologist has reliably fine coffee and a decadent breakfast board for two.
